Familia Gomez Inza Cauca
COLOMBIA
Single Origin | Filter
Orange Tea. Guava. Panela Sugar
| Farm Varietal Process Altitude |
: Finca Argentina : 100% Caturra : Fully Washed : 1990 Metres |
When her husband passed away over a decade ago, Isuara Martinez was uncertain how she would continue managing the family's 6-hectare coffee farm in El Tabor, Cauca region. Already in her 50s, she knew the demands of producing high-quality coffee would be difficult to shoulder alone. In a development rare for rural Colombia — where small farms are increasingly subdivided among children — Doña Isuara's children chose to manage the family land together instead.
Some ten years on, Familia Gomez is a compelling example of how coffee farming can be handed down through generations. Four siblings — Alvaro, Juan, Gloria, and Fabiola — and their families manage the farm collectively, each tending their own plots but coming together to wet process each day's harvest in the farm's original mill. Doña Isuara, now well into her 60s, continues to tend her own small plot.
We discovered this coffee through our friends at Santa Barbara Estate, who feature it at their flagship specialty café, Pergamino, in Medellín. Through a new pilot project in Cauca, the Pillimue family in San Antonio — long-time suppliers to Pergamino — have established a small warehouse and cupping lab with Pergamino's support. As logistics and sourcing partners, they now provide quality assessment services to nearly 150 families across San Antonio, Belen, La Palmera, Aguablanca, Pedregal, Palmichal, San Jose, and Santa Teresa. Most importantly, the Pillimue–Pergamino partnership enables more families than ever to access specialty market pricing.
After harvesting, cherries are sorted and rested for a day and a half, then fermented for 72 hours before being pulped and sun-dried. Once ideal moisture is reached, the coffee is sent to Pergamino's dry mill in Medellín for hulling and export preparation. Throughout harvest season, Pergamino commits to monthly visits to cup and advise on quality — all lots scoring 85+ points will be purchased, with standout lots set aside as microlots marketed under the farmer or family's own name. We are thrilled to bring this to Singapore and the world — fresh from the 2026 harvest.
